Six-year-old Sudhish from Thiruvannamalai has been fighting for every breath since infancy. Born on January 31, 2020, he was diagnosed with a severe congenital cardiac defect: a large VSD amounting to a single ventricle, with abnormally positioned great arteries (Aorta anterior to PA) and a wide interatrial communication. With only one functional pumping chamber to circulate blood throughout his body, his heart has had to work twice as hard just to keep him alive.
In 2022, Sudhish underwent an initial open-heart procedure—pulmonary artery (PA) banding and atrial septectomy—to control pulmonary blood flow and stabilize his condition. While this interim surgery helped him survive his toddler years, his growing body has now outpaced that temporary fix. Recent evaluations at the MIOT Centre for Children’s Cardiac Care in Chennai show a tight PA band in-situ, placing dangerous strain on his single ventricle. Specialist doctors have advised that he must urgently undergo definitive Primary Fontan surgery to redirect oxygen-depleted blood straight to his lungs, normalize his oxygen levels, and prevent irreversible heart failure.
The total estimated cost for Sudhish’s surgery, pediatric ICU care, hospital stay, post-operative tests, and medications is ₹4,50,000/-. For his father, Mr. Durai, arranging such a significant sum is impossible without outside support. Having already guided his young son through one complex cardiac surgery, the family is exhausted and urgently appealing to compassionate donors to help fund this life-saving Fontan procedure so Sudhish can finally grow up healthy and strong.
